Mindfulness

We teach students skills to become aware of their emotions and how to regulate them.

Then, we have students practice those skills during mind-body challenges.

Growth Mindset

We help students understand that they can get better at things.

Students learn this when they complete challenges that they thought were impossible at first.

Emotional Regulation

We offer students specific techniques to calm down when they are feeling frustrated.

When the mind-body challenges of the program get tough, we guide students to apply these techniques

Our Mission

We teach emotional regulation and growth mindset skills to promote students mental health and well-being in a fun and active way!

Mindfulness helps students manage difficult emotions and stay focused. These skills are important for success in academic and interpersonal situations. The benefits of mindfulness are well documented; the challenge comes in getting students excited about adopting a mindful lifestyle. From a child’s perspective, mindfulness often means boring breathing exercises.

At Mindfulness through Play, we utilize a Japanese wooden skill toy called a kendama to present mindfulness in a fun and engaging way. A kendama has a ball on a string, a spike, three cups and an infinite amount of physical and mental challenges to accomplish. The Mindfulness through Play programs focus on helping students set goals to achieve certain ‘tricks’ and coach them through emotional regulation techniques to help reduce anger induced reactions and promote emotional observation and regulation through compassion.

MTP programs focus on 3 core pillars;

  • Mindfulness

  • Social-Emotional Learning

  • Growth Mindset

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Mindfulness: students gain tools to help regulate thoughts and emotions during challenges.

  • Social-Emotional Learning: Students learn to communicate with compassion, kindness and encouragement.

  • Growth Mindset: Students learn how to transform adversity into opportunities to learn and grow while setting and reaching goals.

Our Impact

We have reached 20,000 students through after-school programs, in-school P.E programs, and summer camp programs since 2018!
